HOMEBOUND ELDERLY LEGAL PROJECT
Addressing
the legal needs of homebound, disabled and chronically
ill elders. Made possible by the
generous support of the
Independence Foundation.

HOMEOWNERS
ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (“HAP”)
Addressing
the needs of low-income elderly homeowners in Philadelphia,
enabling them to maintain their homes and remain in
their communities, helping them to lead safe,
independent lives
and expand their long-term care options. Made
possible by
the generous support of The Pew Charitable Trusts.

PROJECT
S.A.F.E. (“Stop Abuse and Financial Exploitation”) Working
to end and prevent various forms of elder abuse and financial exploitation of the elderly through direct services,
educational workshops, and professional outreach.

KinC.A.N.
(“Kinship Caregiver Assistance Network”)
Addressing
the needs of grandparents and other elders raising young
relative children, many of whom have been abandoned, neglected
or abused by birth parents.

ASIAN ELDERLY LEGAL PROJECT In November 2000,
SeniorLAW Center launched The Asian Elderly Legal Project, a new
program focusing on the legal needs of Asian elders in partnership
with the Pennsylvania Chinese Senior Citizen Association in
Chinatown and other Asian community organizations in Philadelphia.

LEGAL SERVICES FOR
HISPANIC ELDERS SeniorLAW Center
also provides bilingual bicultural services for Hispanic elders,
holding workshops and community-based legal clinics each month in
Hispanic communities in Kensington and North Philadelphia, at
senior centers focusing on Spanish-speaking elders from Puerto
Rico, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the Dominican
Republic and other countries.

COMMUNITY-BASED NEIGHBORHOOD LEGAL
SERVICES & COMMUNITY CLINICS
SeniorLAW Center provides services not only by
telephone and walk-in intake at its center city
offices, but throughout the communities of Philadelphia,
through home visits, outreaches throughout
the city, special projects at community and senior
centers, and at its six community-based intake
sites.

PLANNING
TO AGE WITH DIGNITY
Recognizing that dementing illnesses
impact elders and their families not only physically,
emotionally, and financially but legally, SeniorLAW
Center has launched a new program funded by an
Independence
Foundation Public Interest Law
Fellowship to provide education and advance planning
services to Philadelphia seniors at risk for dementing
illness or dementia; i.e. Alzheimer's disease and related
progressive memory disorders.

The Pennsylvania SeniorLAW Helpline is a toll-free,
state-wide, legal information, advice and referral
service for Pennsylvania senior citizens (60 years and
older).
A free and confidential
telephone service, the Helpline is staffed by attorneys,
Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Helpline provides free legal
information, advice and referrals on a variety of
topics, including: consumer problems (credit, debt,
bankruptcy), health care including Medicare Part D,
estate planning (wills, powers of attorney), pensions –
government and private, family law (divorce, custody,
domestic violence), housing (landlord-tenant, deeds,
utilities), and many other areas of the law. We
provide interpretation services in 150 languages.

ELDERLY
VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LEGAL PROJECT
Through
The Elderly Victims Of Domestic Violence Legal Project
we address and serve the needs of elderly victims of
domestic violence in Philadelphia. Providing a
wide array of direct services to victims, we address the
comprehensive legal and social service needs of victims,
pursuing not only protection from abuse, but their issues
of housing, financial stability, custody and support, and
long-term care planning.
