Elderly
Victims Of Domestic Violence Legal Project
Through
The Elderly Victims Of Domestic Violence Legal Project
we address and serve the needs of elderly victims of
domestic violence in Philadelphia. Providing a wide
array of direct services to victims, we address the
comprehensive legal and social service needs of victims,
pursuing not only protection from abuse, but their issues of
housing, financial stability, custody and support, and long-term
care planning. With support from the U.S. Department of
Justice, Office of Violence Against Women, we provide
direct legal representation, crisis counseling, emergency and
ongoing advocacy, victim orientation and education, needs
assessment, safety planning, emergency financial assistance,
orientation to the justice and other systems.
We serve the poorest, most isolated and most vulnerable
of our community's domestic violence victims.
Preservation of dignity, autonomy and independence,
safety planning, and innovative access methodologies are key to
our service model, and are especially important when serving
older victims of domestic violence, whose needs are often
overlooked by organizations serving general populations.
